Frequently Asked Questions
Is this church new?
People began to meet in a local Statesboro home in the late 1970s, and later formalized as this congregation in 1980.
How long have you been the pastor?
Pastor David McLendon was a student at GSU in the 1980’s and became of a part of New Covenant Church then. He was water baptized in this church by the first pastor. David received a word from God in 1986 that one day he would be the pastor of this church. The Lord brought David and Elena back to Statesboro in December of 2009 to work as assistant pastors and in April of 2011, God’s word to David was fulfilled when he and Elena were set in as the lead pastors.
Why does the worship last so long?
Our music is not tradition or entertainment. We desire to connect with God in a deep place in worship. This takes time, so we often linger, and repeat choruses until they get into our hearts and spirits and we have a breakthrough.
What’s with the hand raising and dancing?
You’ve probably been to a sporting event. There are different kinds of fans participating. Some people just go to watch, others wear the team jersey, and others paint their faces and yell. Our worship is similar. We don’t judge. We are all fans of Jesus. We try not to let our freedom be a distraction to others.
What is the vision?
Our vision is simple: We want to see people’s lives transformed by an encounter with God. Our goal is that people will be changed when they are genuinely touched by the life- changing power of God. We believe that God’s power can change any person in any situation or condition, no matter where they are in life’s journey.

What are prophetic teams?
These are teams of church members that will sit with you and pray for you. They ask the Lord to share insights for you which they will share with you.
