We believe in the power of a formal church membership for the following reasons:
A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church; we should be, too.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” - Ephesians 5:25
A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our non-committal society.
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:25
A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on.
“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Phillipians 1:4-6
A Personal Reason: It produces maturity and spiritual growth in us.
“Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” - James 1:4
A Spiritual Reason: God will use His gifts in you to minister to the needs of others.
“So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.” - 1 Corinthians 14:12
